Weaving Driver In Wilton Leads To DUI Charge For Norwalk Resident, Police Say

A Fairfield County man was nabbed allegedly driving at twice the legal limit after he was stopped for driving all over the roadway.

Tomas Mata Perez, age 40, of Norwalk, was stopped in Wilton on Wolfpit Road on Tuesday, Sept. 26, around 10:40 p.m. driving a 2023 Honda CRV.

According to Lt. Anna Tornello, of the Wilton Police, Perez was stopped after he was seen unable to maintain a lane of travel.

An investigation found that he was driving under the influence and failed a field sobriety test, said Tornello.

Tornello said a breath test indicated Perez was driving at more than double the legal limit.

He was charged with:

  • Driving under the influence
  • Failure to drive in the proper lane
  • Drinking while driving

Perez was released on a $250 bond.
